Thursday 2nd January - walks ***** – Around Felixstowe – sunny.

Walk 1 – sunrise prom.

As there was no chance of a sunrise yesterday things looked more promising today, with Arlo still asleep I left home at 7.30 to walk down to the pier, cold too with a good frost! The sky was clear over the land with just a bank of cloud out to sea but by the time I reached the seafront a bank of low cloud had rolled in! I was then surprised and Mag and Arlo appeared to join me and we continued all the way to the end of the prom at The Manor end stopping to have a go on the keep fit gear:) We did get a brief glimpse of orange and we spotted the sun as the cloud started to disperse and by the time we were home the sky was blue!

Walk 2 – The Dip to the Deben.

With Rob, Hannah and Arlo leaving in the afternoon to spend the day at Longleat tomorrow we had enough time after lunch to drive down to The Dip for a walk in the sunshine:) We arrived at 1.30 and set off towards the Ferry, the tide was high there was not that much shingle bank out, by the time we reached it Arlo had wet feet! Two young ladies braved the cold for a quick dip in the sea and there were lots of people enjoying the sunshine. In the end I walked over 5 miles which certainly didn’t help my foot which is no better:( We then waved goodbye to Arlo and headed for home for a warming cuppa, I did head down to Felixtowe Ferry to see if the northern lights were showing, sadly not and it was bloom’n freezing!
We had a great Christmas/New Year with family and friends:)
